Book of the month for July 2017 – The Art of Manliness – Manvotionals by – Brett McKay
It was back in 2014 when I read this book, it made such a big impact on me that I re-read it again in 2017. I decided to write this review because the book was very helpful to me and I think it will be highly beneficial to you as well (especially if you are a guy in your 20’s or 30’s)
During 2013 and 2014 I was really working hard on making a change in my life and improving my mindset. I’ve stumble across this book when I was doing some research for books that can help me improve myself and to grasp the concept of manliness a bit better. I think that the concept of manliness has been completely distorted for the last 20-30 years. The two extreme narratives for a modern-day man who the media pushes, are either the dumb jock or the feminine wimp. And I think that neither of those extremes are good and healthy for young men. The truth and real confidence in one self is somewhere in the middle of those to extremes.
I was really curious and wanted to find for myself what is true manliness in our modern ages. And this book helped me find a bit of it.

What I think about this book?
I’m highly fascinated with this book, and the collection of manly wisdom and knowledge. The book is a really fun read and it’s separated in to bite size portions and chunks. I highly recommend this book if you are a man in he’s 20’s, 30’s or 40’s and if you are a father definitely buy this book for your son, he might not appreciate the book if he’s 18 or 20 but he will really cherish the book when he gets a bit older.
The book is very well designed and has plenty of hand-made (or at least it looks like that) drawings and illustrations. You feel a bit more classy and manly just by holding and reading the book.
If you are interested in philosophy, poetry, literature and essays, this book has plenty.
